When you find the key to unlock the door, do you grab it and unlock the door? Or do
you ignore it and stay trapped?
As I go through my journey and close many chapters, so many things are revealed to
me.
I once felt trapped in life. Like many who feel trapped, I started looking for a way out. But it was not easy. The last few years, it became even more difficult for me to find a way out. So, I decided to escape.
I decided to take a trip to the west coast, to take a break from the southeast. Get back to the place where I was raised. A place that made me who I am. Get back to that good west coast heat and sun. Get back to that west coast vibe. Get back to myself.
At one of the hotels, I stayed at in Las Vegas, I come across a keyhole mirror. It was lovely. In fact, I felt I would need this type of mirror in my new home. As I looked at it while walking to the elevator, I saw something in the keyhole? And what do I see? I saw a tall, thick, chocolate fly queen. The diva within. I see Morenikeji. I see me.

In February 2016, on my Instagram, I posted: “You are the key to unlock the door.” Funny thing is I didn’t know what it really meant. I just liked the art and the message, and it rang true to me at the time.
At that point in time, I was posting inspirational quotes to keep me going and striving to inspire others. I was working on hitting the peak of my life. I was blessed to be on various movie and TV sets. I was traveling. I met numerous people that were able to expand my network. That period of time was very surreal. I went from watching Tyler Perry movies and wishing one day I could work with Tyler Perry. Well, it was done. I went from listening to various music artist to meeting and hanging with some. These are just a couple examples of things I went through—from wishing to accomplishing! As I came from nothing to have just a little something, I wanted to share the love and motivation.
Now back to the story....
Now, here we are, September 2021, 5 years later, and I run into a keyhole. Again, who is in this keyhole? Me! “did you catch it” Full circle, full cycle. Me responding in my sexy voice…. “Yeah” Lol.
Why is this moment such a big thing for me? I used feel lost; this was a prime reminder that I was not lost. I have been here the whole time. I just haven’t used my key.
I decide to test this theory a little. After all, can it really be just that simple? As I was enjoying my time on the west coast, I started to unlock the door. I turned the key slowly. And I mean slowly. Then, I crack the door. Open it a little. I peep in and out. It seems ok. I step out briefly. Quickly, change! It was that simple. (More on these stories later. Stay tuned)
I am here now to help encourage you. No matter what is going on in your life. No matter what has happened to you before—even if it took 2 minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades, millenniums years ago—YOU ARE in control! You hold the key. Don’t let anything stop you from using your key, for good!

I would have NEVER made it this/that far if I didn’t decide to just be my own me. Everything that I wanted to do; I can say I did. Some not to the extreme as I wanted simply because I didn’t know I could or was allowed. And truth, my life is not over, so I still can. But now that I have re tapped into me, the real & true me, I know now I can do it all & more. And whomever chooses to read this, you can do it all and more, too!

I encourage everyone, especially during these times to take that time to find their them. Find your key. Take that key and unlock all doors you TRULY wish to open. Now OPEN IT! once open, do good. Be good. Flourish. Then be great!
